The fun of a Mystery Knit-Along comes partly from the excitement of seeing how it all comes together, and partly from the joy of combining beautiful colours. We scoured our shelves to find the most promising combinations for Mary Annarella’s latest MKAL. The design, entitled “Believe”, is inspired by the charming TV comedy Ted Lasso – but of course you can enjoy it just as much if you’re not familiar with the series! (Although you might be inspired to watch; it’s delightful.)

What is an MKAL? It’s both a pattern and a shared knitting experience! You don’t know the end result in advance – just trust the designer. (Mary Annarella is great at this. You’re in good hands.) The instructions will be published in six parts, one “clue” per week over six weeks. Many participants will share their progress on Instagram, making it a big online party.

What can you expect? A “festival of stitches” with varied textures, lace and colour patterns, but nothing too challenging. The construction will keep you guessing, but ultimately you’ll end up with a generous rectangular shawl. It’s the perfect relaxing knit: not boring, but not challenging either. If you look at Mary Annarella’s previous MKALs (on Ravelry or on Payhip), you’ll get a good impression of the style.

What’s included in this bundle? Only the yarn – selected according to the designer’s specifications: 4 skeins of fingering yarn in three coordinating colours and one contrasting colour. The pattern is only available from Mary Annarella and is only available in English.

Sweet Georgia BFL Silk Fine (75% Bluefaced Leicester wool, 25% silk; 338m / 100g)
Note: BFL Silk Fine has a slightly shorter yardage than standard fingering yarn. However, based on my experience with Mary Annarella’s MKALs, it should still be sufficient.
