Who’s behind Studio Miranda? I’m Robynn: I’ve been knitting and crocheting all my life, and have published some original designs. I also used to run an online knitting supplies store in the UK. I feel like I’ve been working towards opening this space for you all my life.
Studio Miranda is guided by three core values:
Playful creativity. Forget perfectionism, crafting should be fun! We encourage you to try new techniques and find patterns to develop your skills. We also stock beginner-friendly kits and materials for hobbies beyond knitting and crochet, to tempt you out of your comfort zone.
Community. Shared joy in crafting is a strong bond. After I left my home in South Africa for London in 2002, and again when I moved to Zurich in 2013, knitting circles helped me to put down new roots. Studio Miranda offers you a place to build these connections. Bring your friends, or meet new ones at a workshop.
Conscious consumption. We want you to feel good about your purchases; that’s why they come from suppliers who share your concern for the planet and animal welfare. To ensure sustainability, we look for products that are certified accordingly. Most come from independent producers – run by families or women – who are as passionate about their craft as we are.
We also want you to feel good about your purchases because you know they will be used – not just lost in your stash! That’s why we are keen to inspire you with pattern ideas, and to help you select exactly the right products for your next project. (Where will you find these ideas?
